The Tuscaloosa Cameo Guild presents the annual Heritage 5K and Fun Run/Walk < Back The Tuscaloosa Cameo Guild Heritage 5K and Fun Run/Walk 2023 The Tuscaloosa Cameo Guild presents the annual Heritage 5K and Fun Run/Walk TUSCALOOSA, AL. — The Tuscaloosa Cameo Guild will present the annual Heritage 5K at the Jemison-Van de Graaff Mansion on November 6, 2022, at p.m. On November 6, 2022, the senior Cameo Guild members will hold their annual Heritage 5K and Fun Run/Walk. The course will wind through the Historic District of downtown Tuscaloosa, beginning at the Jemison Mansion parking lot. Our goals with this event are to raise money for the Tuscaloosa Cameo Guild Scholarship Program, raise funds for our gift to one of the Historic Tuscaloosa restoration projects, and to provide a fun, safe and historical setting for a 5K run. Tuscaloosa Cameo Guild (formerly Tuscaloosa Belles) is a service organization of young women sponsored by the Century Club of the Historic Tuscaloosa (formerly known Tuscaloosa County Preservation Society). Cameo Guild members participate in preservation through education, involvement in community service events, and training of its members to provide leadership for the future preservation of the heritage of their community. • The Tuscaloosa County Preservation Society announces name change

The Tuscaloosa County Preservation Society announces name change < Back The Tuscaloosa County Preservation Society announces name change The Tuscaloosa County Preservation Society announces name change TUSCALOOSA, AL. — The Tuscaloosa County Preservation Society announced today that they have completed a major renaming, officially changing the name of Tuscaloosa County Preservation Society to “Historic Tuscaloosa." For several years, the board members of Tuscaloosa County Preservation Society (TCPS) have thoughtfully considered ways to keep the organization relevant and contemporary. Our purpose, “to develop an awareness of the historical and cultural heritage of Tuscaloosa County," continues to remain strong as do our efforts to fulfill our objectives. In an effort to continue such objectives for future generations, the motion for the name change was carried unanimously. Our logo will remain the same with the exception of the name change. Many of the cities that have deep historical roots with active organizations that preserve their histories have made such a change. Charleston (Historic Charleston) and Natchez (Historic Natchez) are two such examples. In addition to the fact that this name was chosen to reflect our role in the community, our website and social media presence already use it. Since the time of its inception, society has worked diligently to fulfill their objectives to educate and preserve different historical aspects of the community and hope to continue to do so in the coming years as Historic Tuscaloosa.
