Historic Tuscaloosa will continue its summertime lecture series on Thursday, July 24, at 5:30 p.m. Mr. James Lowery will present his lecture on “Historic Birmingham Mineral Railroad Signs Project – The BMRR Past and Present,” in room 38 in Lloyd Hall at the University of Alabama. This event is open to the public and free of charge.
Mr. Lowery will discuss how the Historic Birmingham Mineral Railroad Signs Project is installing signs designating where the Birmingham Mineral Railroad (BMRR) ran throughout Birmingham and central Alabama during its century-long era. Thus far, 199 signs have been installed in all six counties that were served by the BMRR in central Alabama, and more signs are scheduled to be installed.
