Join us at the Battle-Friedman House on Friday, August 7th from 2:00 to 4:00pm and meet the authors behind this great new book about Tuscaloosa. Amalia K. Amaki and Priscilla N. Davis will be available to talk with visitors and sign copies of their new book. Copies will be available for purchase.


Sundown Lecture Series, Thursday, August 13th, 5:15 - 6:45 at the Batttle-Friedman House (1010 Greensboro Avenue.) John Boutwell will present "Linka Friedman's Music."  Light refreshments at 5:15 with the lecture beginning at 5:45.  Society Members FREE; Non-Members $5.  Mr. Boutwell will play several piano pieces from Linka's personal music book during this presentation.

Heritage Celebration Decorators Break-Out Showcase, Friday - Sunday, August 28th - 30th.  Historic Old Jail.  Talented, local decorators will turn the rooms of the Old Jail into imaginative themed settings.  Artists, decorators, and florists will create tablescapes that give new meaning to "setting the table!"  Architectural renderings will outline the Old Jail’s history throughout the site!!  A Tea Room on the lawn will offer refreshments to visitors.  There has not been a Decorators Showcase since 2005! **The Tuscaloosa City School Board has kindly opened the Old Jail for use of the Tuscaloosa County Preservation Society Heritage Celebration.

We are pleased to announce the 2015 Hertiage Celebration!  This year, we are focusing on Reconstruction Tuscaloosa, 1865 - 1877.  We are also reformatting the event to be a year-long celebration.  Additional information on the events below will be forthcoming.  Mark your calendars and make your plans to join us as we celebrate the rich history of Tuscaloosa!

Sundown Lecture Series, Thursday, April 9th 5:00 - 7:00, Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center.  Dr. Robert Mellown will present "The Burning of the University."  Society Members FREE; $5 Non-Members.  Donations are gratefully accepted and appreciated.

Home and Garden Tours Block Party, Saturday, May 16th.  4:00 - 8:00 pm College Park Neighborhood.  This is a fun twist on the traditional home and garden tour. Former location of the Tuscaloosa Female College.
